One of the finest pianissimos ever.

The thing that these audio recordings can never convey is how completely she still became the character she was singing. I saw her in this last concert tour in the Lyric Opera in Chicago. Standing almost always still, with just a plain white gown and a long red stole she literally before your eyes became several different people as she sang. Each character was given a different sound [even with the somewhat diminished voice] and through hand and body movements [very subtle ones] so that one felt they were seeing real people singing about their situations. This is the real ancient meaning of the word "glamour" where the person can become another through her own skills and talent making a literally magical transformation.

Hay grabaciones de Antonio Paoli, tenor de la epoca de Caruso, y parece mucho mejor que Caruso. Fue Caruso tan bueno como dicen los que nunca lo han escuchado en teatro o fue un producto de marketing elaborado en yankilandia ?. No lo se.

many people love the sound Joan Sutherland makes, but I can't bear it. She scoops up to every note, rather than hitting it head on and that is very tiring to listen to. More than that, her diction is appalling. You cannot make out a single word she sings. Another singer who I always hear as flat and singing beneath the note is Anna Netrebko ! In her recordings and live performances, all the other singers sound in perfect pitch - but never her, so it is not my hearing, unless she sings on the note and none of the others do ????

La Divina was blessed with super-human talent and the iron will to realize that talent.

Why was this ever released for the PUBLIC? It's not as bad as reported to be. There are many lovely moments, the ELISIR is brimming with charm. I got one a few days ago but with the exception of the ELISIR, the rest had very poor sound and with no clarity. Had to give up after the Elisir. Will this better version eventually reach the public? These artists are long gone and cannot refuse to let these items go unpublished - for good. Would like to have a copy.

Finally I found somebody that knows what is talking and says C6 to the high C, must people erroneously call it C5 when the tenor or the soprano is giving really C6, the high C how many people knows it…thanks for giving the proper musically name. If central C is C4 , two octaves high is C6 , correct.
